The SGPC hired a new Coordinator, Joshua Petit, in April. Josh earned his Ph.D. at Oregon State University’s College of Forestry with a focus on Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and a minor in Rural Studies, and his Masters degree in Natural Resources at Virginia Tech. Originally from the Midwest, Josh has lived in Oregon for 11 years and is excited to bring his passion for rural and resource-dependent community well-being to the Collaborative. His research interests include informal science education and how trust, values, and risk can shape social acceptability of contentious natural resource management actions. In his free time; you can find Josh on the mountain skiing, climbing, or mountain biking; on the river kayaking or flyfishing; or enjoying good food and live music with friends old and new.
