The Forest Youth Success program was founded in 2002 and has funded over 700 youth program participants from Skamania County. The participants gain an understanding of what takes to maintain and preserve our natural resources, and see potential job opportunities that are available in those fields. Forest Youth Success has produced a two page document highlighting the program achievements that is available below.

The SGPC has prioritized the use of Retained Receipts to help support the restoration work accomplished by the Forest Youth Success (FYS) work crews. Historically, the FYS program received funding from the GPNF Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) through Title II of the Secure Rural School Act. However, this act expired in 2015 and has not been reauthorized. Since 2015, the SGPC has fully funded the FYS Retained Receipt project requests and will seek to continue to support the restoration work achieved through this program.
